Gem Show Survival Tips for First Time Buyers

Have you ever been to a gem show? I have, to tell you the truth the sea of traders present at the show is overwhelming. The sight of hundreds of market stalls with many of them selling the same merchandise at different prices perplexed me. I have learned my lesson - if you don’t prepare for a bulk gemstones purchase in advance you return disappointed.

Here are some tips to make the best of your gem show tour based on my wholesale buying experience

Make a List
Before entering the show you must have an idea of the type of gemstone you need in your inventory. A number of the  wholesale gemstone beads are dyed to increase the quality of their appearance. Further, they come in many shapes and sizes. If you want to buy a cut stone that is the exact match of your present inventory, bring a sample to show the dealers.
Thus you can compile a list containing all the gems which are mandatory to buy.
Ask Questions

Trade shows are a place to explore the new varieties of stones. If you see a stone for the first time, ask the stallholder. You might discover a stone which is less expensive still appealing to the customer.

3. Company sticker

The gemstone traders are here for business, it’s not just you but a number of other sellers who will interact with them. Keep a sticker with the company name, address, phone number, and contact person. Ask the dealer to stick them on your invoices. Your order with not get exchanged or lost once the invoice contains your info.

4. Bring Some Cash

Some dealers accept only money. Without cash, it can be impossible to buy. Estimate a budget you will need along with some extra money for unexpected purchases. Carry the amount with you. Keep both the cash and credit card in the same wallet.
Your card might be frozen on wholesale purchases, call your credit company in advance to notify that you will make wholesale deals.
 5. Buying Process

Take a little notebook and a pen with you. Reach early. Take a tour of the entire show. Look for the bulk gemstones wholesalers who are willing to sell the product at your price. You can bargain for sure.

Don’t buy instead note the shop no., product and price of the product you are interested in buying.

Once you have visited all the exhibitors walk outside. Check out your list, compare  & decide which deal is best for you.
